Terms of Service
The agreement between you and Quantum Academy. We have written these terms in plain English wherever we can — the legal meaning still applies, but you should not need a lawyer to understand the basics.
Last updated: June 28, 2026
1. Agreement & acceptance
These Terms of Service form a binding agreement between you and Quantum Academy (operated by DeeSha). By creating an account, signing in, browsing lessons, building circuits, running simulations, or submitting jobs to real quantum hardware, you accept these terms in full. If you do not agree with any part of them, please do not use the service.
These terms work alongside our Privacy Policy and Refund Policy. Please read both.
2. The service
Quantum Academy is an educational platform that teaches quantum computing by doing. It offers interactive lessons, a visual circuit builder, a code IDE, an in-browser statevector simulator (up to 20 qubits in the browser, 22 on the server) and a stabilizer simulator (up to 100 qubits, Clifford-only), an AI tutor, pay-per-use access to real quantum hardware through third-party providers, and completion certificates.
The service is built and operated by DeeSha — a technology consulting firm founded in 2019 by Deepak Battini, based in Adelaide, Australia. The marketing site is at qu-academy.com and the learning platform and API are at platform.qu-academy.com.
3. Eligibility
You must be at least 16 years old to use the service, or use it only with the involvement and consent of a parent or legal guardian. By using Quantum Academy you represent that you meet this requirement and that you have the legal capacity to enter into this agreement where you live.
4. Accounts
- You must provide accurate, current information when you register and keep it up to date.
- You are responsible for keeping your password and sign-in credentials secure, and for all activity that happens under your account.
- One account per person. Do not create multiple accounts to bypass plan limits, rate limits, or free-tier allowances.
- Do not share, transfer, sell, or otherwise make your account available to anyone else.
- Tell us promptly through /contact if you believe your account has been compromised.
5. Plans & billing
Our plans are one-time lifetime purchases, not subscriptions. Level 1 (Quantum Foundations) is free forever with no card required. Paid plans — for example Advanced at $99 one-time and Quantum Engineer at $149 one-time — are paid once and kept for the lifetime of the product. All payments are processed securely by Stripe.
Hardware access runs on prepaid credits, accounted in integer millicredits. You purchase credits up front and they are spent per job you submit to real quantum hardware. If a job fails, eligible credits are refunded to your balance per our accounting rules.
Every plan purchase is covered by our 14-day money-back guarantee. For the full detail on refunds, see our Refund Policy.
6. Acceptable use
To keep Quantum Academy fair, safe, and working for everyone, you agree not to:
- Access the service, another account, or our systems without authorisation, or try to do so.
- Disrupt, overload, or impair the service — its servers, simulators, APIs, queues, or infrastructure.
- Violate the terms of any quantum-hardware provider whose systems we submit jobs to on your behalf.
- Share, sell, or transfer your account credentials, or sign in as someone else.
- Scrape, crawl, or attempt automated bulk access to lessons, content, or data beyond what the platform normally offers.
- Submit unlawful, infringing, abusive, or otherwise harmful content in circuits, code, lesson comments, contact messages, or AI-tutor conversations.
- Reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the platform's source code, models, or proprietary content.
- Bypass, disable, or tamper with plan limits, rate limits, paywalls, or security features.
Violations may lead to suspension or termination of your account, and where applicable we may pass reports to the relevant authorities or providers.
7. Your content & licence
You own the circuits, code, and notes you create on Quantum Academy. To provide the service to you, you grant DeeSha a limited licence to host, store, run, simulate, and display your content solely as needed to operate the platform (for example, to execute your circuit in the simulator, render it on screen, or submit it to hardware).
You are responsible for your content, and you confirm you have the rights to submit it. Be careful with sensitive data: do not put confidential, secret, or personal information into circuits you intend to run on real hardware, because those circuits are transmitted to a third-party hardware provider to be executed.
Conversations with the AI tutor are processed by our AI provider as part of generating responses. Treat them as you would any message sent to a third-party service.
8. Real quantum hardware
Access to real quantum hardware is provided through third-party providers (for example IBM, IonQ, and others available on the platform). When you submit a job, we send your circuit to the relevant provider on your behalf.
The provider's own terms, policies, and acceptable-use rules apply to your job, and you agree to comply with them. Hardware availability, queue times, and result fidelity depend entirely on the provider and on physical devices — they are not guaranteed. Results are provided as-is, and we are not responsible for provider-side errors, outages, or changes to their service.
9. Certificates
Completion certificates recognise that you have worked through our material and met the completion criteria for a course. They are not formal academic accreditation, do not confer any qualification or credit, and are not a guarantee of employment, skills, or outcomes. How you present a certificate to others is up to you, but please do not misrepresent what it represents.
10. Intellectual property
The Quantum Academy service — including course content, lessons, text, graphics, platform software, simulator engines, branding, and the Quantum Academy name — is owned by DeeSha and protected by intellectual-property laws. You may use the service and its content for your own personal learning while your account is in good standing, but you may not copy, redistribute, resell, or relicense our content without our written permission.
Your own circuits and code remain yours, as set out in section 7.
11. Disclaimers
The service is provided "as is" and "as available". To the maximum extent permitted by law, we make no warranties, express or implied, about the operation, availability, accuracy, or fitness for a particular purpose of the service, the simulators, or the results returned by real quantum hardware.
12. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, in no event will DeeSha be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or for any loss of data, loss of credits, loss of hardware-job results, business interruption, or service outage — whether based in contract, tort, or otherwise — arising out of your use of the service.
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits any non-excludable rights or guarantees you may have under the Australian Consumer Law or other mandatory law that applies to you.
13. Indemnity
To the extent permitted by law, you agree to indemnify DeeSha against any claims, losses, or damages that arise from your breach of these terms, your misuse of the service, or your content (including circuits and code you submit).
14. Suspension & termination
We may suspend or restrict access if we believe you have violated these terms, and we may terminate an account in the case of serious or repeated violations. Where practical and lawful, we will aim to notify you first.
You can close your account at any time by reaching out through /contact. Sections that by their nature should survive — including those on intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability, and indemnity — continue to apply after termination.
15. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as the service evolves. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, notify you in the platform. Continuing to use Quantum Academy after a change takes effect means you accept the revised terms.
16. Governing law & disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of Australia (specifically South Australia). We hope any disagreement can be resolved informally — please contact us first and we will work with you in good faith to sort it out.
17. Entire agreement
These terms, together with our Privacy Policy and Refund Policy, make up the entire agreement between you and DeeSha about your use of Quantum Academy, and replace any earlier versions.
